My Nurse Night Shift Skin Care and Make Up Routine

Kung hei fat choy/Gong xi fa cai/Kung hee huat tsai! Or whatever kind of Chinese language you speak. Anyway, I just had a long tiring week. Have been working 3 nights straight and then 2 days off and then back for 3 straight nights again. Whew! Still surviving somehow...

Today, I will be showing you my ritual skin care and make up for a working night. We tend to assume and imagine nurses as having those bloodshot eyes, unkempt hair, smudge make ups and tiring face (which is apparently all true). But we always do our best and manage to keep ourselves presentable and professional looking.

These are my tools:

First I start off by cleansing my face

And then apply my softener

Moisturize, apply eye cream and acne treatment gel.

While I let those take its effect and by absorbed, I take this time to fix my hair.

And then, I apply my foundation. When I go to work, this is what I use since it doesn’t make my face oily during the whole shift. I casually use my BB cream, but when I am working, it tends to leave my face oily in the middle of the shift. This is in the natural light ochre O20 shade by Shiseido (you can notice I am a Shiseido fan!)

I then do my eyebrows…

Concealer…

Eye primer…

I am using the Trick eyeshadow from the Urban Decay Naked 3 palette. It is an orange shade with shimmer. I like using light shades to avoid that “tired eyes” look. I don't really like to put a lot of colors, because I don't like looking like someone who is about to go to a party at work.

I then apply eyeliner. I sometimes use the gel liner but this one, I can apply it faster since this is the first type and brand of eyeliner I ever used.

And then take a selfie... Lol.

Masscara (just thin one coat, in case you get crazy in the middle of the shift which usually happens a lot!)…

Bronzer and blush…

And then highlighter… I just apply it on the top corner of my cheekbones, nose, cupids fold and a little bit on the chin. I don’t apply it on my eyebrow area because it’s a shimmery type of highlighter. I instead use a white eyeshadow.

And then the lips. This is my go-to lip color since I don’t like those too pink or too red shades when I go to work.

And then I’m done! Ready to go.

I don’t usually use all the products I mentioned when I go to work since some of them are really expensive and I don’t want to waste them every time I work. Someday I’m gonna find some alternatives like drugstore makeups which I know there a lot of really good stuff too in a much more affordable price.

This is me at work. The eyeliner seemed a bit different in this picture because I just retouched it. Anyway, I hope you enjoyed reading this especially to my fellow nurses out there. If you have your own ritual too, please share it and leave a comment down below. Blog you later loves!
