Manicure Monday/Thursday: Ciate Oil Slick

Hey everyone! Even though, it is not yet Manicure Monday, I painted my nails in advance since I have free time. This time, I am using Ciate in Oil Slick. I so love the duo chrome type of metallic shade it gives. As it is defined by Ciate, "...gives off the most beautiful multi chrome gold green effect just like an optical illusion." Truly indeed! The picture doesn't even do it justice.

What is your favorite Ciate nail polish?

NYX and Rimmel Kate Lipstick Swatches

Hi lovelies! First of all, I changed my blog name from adventuresoflittlenurse.blogspot.com to littlemisssteph23.blogspot.com, unfortunately all of the comments disappeared but to all those who commented before, thank you very much for the effort. I did this so that it would match my instagram name (if you want to add me in ig, just search for littlemisssteph23, there are more personal pictures of my life there).

I wanted to share with you some of the lipsticks I recently bought. So NYX lip products have been the talk around especially the NYX butter lipsticks. A lot of bloggers say that they are great. Instead of doing swatches of all or most of the butter lipsticks, I pick one of each of their popular lip products. The butter lipstick, the matte lipstick, the extra creamy round lipstick. And I also added a Kate Rimmel lipstick.

1. Rimmel Kate Lasting Finish in 111 Kiss of Life
2. NYX Matte Lipstick in MLS 10 Perfect Red
3. NYX Butter Lipstick in BLS 12 Little Susie
4. NYX Extra Creamy Round Lipstick in LSS 583A Haute Melon

I am a fan of the NYX brand since it is very affordable, you can even buy it in a drugstore. Affordable yet very good quality products. And I like the container of their lipsticks, as they have that transparent/glass part where you can see the shade without opening it, unlike other brands where you have to open each one of them or just guess whatever the shade is inside.

The Rimmel Kate lipstick (Kiss of Life) leaves a very rich matte finish but still moisturizing unlike an old lipstick in another brand I have tried before. I personally like the shade and the finish it leaves especially I find it hard to find the perfect red that is not too drying to the lips.

I am not wearing any kind of make up today! Just powder. x_x

The NYX matte lipstick Perfect Red is very pigmented and long lasting but still not drying to the lips. The shade I bought is a bright blue-toned red. I would say it is darker than the Rimmel Kate lipstick Kiss of Life but I like them both!

goofing around

The NYX butter lipstick is very creamy and hydrating but still gives a full coverage and a satin finish. I have always been a fan of lipsticks that are creamy even if I have to re-touch it a few times in a day. The one I bought is Little Susie, it is a deep pink with yellow undertone shade. It is not one of those very light pink or barbie kind of pink but just the right pink where you can wear it during casual days or even at work.

Lastly, the NYX extra creamy round lipstick. When they say "extra-creamy" they really mean it. Personally, I don't like it even though it is creamy. I think it is just so creamy that you have to re-apply it too many times in order the shade to come out especially that my lips are naturally dark. And another thing, since spring is coming I was hunting for the perfect orange shade lipstick, so I grab this Haute Melon shade. But I don't like the finish it gives and the shade is just so not right for my skin tone and not the kind of orange I was looking for.

So anyway, if you have any suggestions for a perfect orange lipstick, please comment down below.

Hope you find this review helpful. :) Blog you later loves!

My Friday the 14th of February

Hey lovelies! It has been a while. Was really busy at work. Anyway, I hope your Valentine's day went fun and sweet. My V-day was fine. Spent it on the 13th with my twinsister at Chili's for dinner (since it is just me and her that live here together alone; our parents are in the Philippines). Here is the picture of what we ate... It was a hearty meal indeed! Happy tummy = happy heart.

*burp*

Yesterday, as I was getting ready for work (yeah that's right, I spent the actual V-day with my lovely patients!), I received this at my doorstep...

It's from my boyfriend all the way from the Philippines. Couldn't be more happier. :)
"Though miles may lie between us, we're never far apart, for relationship doesn't count the miles, it's measured by the heart."

Hope all is well with you guys! Gonna post some beauty related stuff very soon. Blog you later!

Make Up Brushes Cleaning Time

Hey guys! Just came back from a 12 hr night shift again. It was a good night, not too busy like the other day. Before my face will hit the bed and have some beauty rest, I have to give some TLC to my brushes first. Yep, it's that "time" of the week again. And I just wanted to share to you guys or to anyone who doesn't have a cleaning routine yet, on how I clean my dirty, yucky, eewy make up brushes.

Cleaning brushes is sometimes cumbersome, especially if you have hundreds of brushes. It is a no joke business for most of us. But clean brushes does not just condition and lengthen their lifetime but is also hygienic and prevent skin breakouts, acnes or pimples.

Don't worry, you don't have to have the most expensive or fancy cleaning tools in order to take care of your brushes. All you need is a plate, olive oil and dishwashing liquid. I bet all of us have that in our home right? The olive oil will maintain the quality of your brushes and the dishwashing liquid is antimicrobial which can get rid of those germs staying inside the brushes.

Gather your dirty brushes. Pour a good amount of olive oil and dishwashing liquid into the plate. You can add more as you go along. And put an equal amount of water just enough to emulsify the soap.

Get your brush and wet it with water and then swirl it into your mixture. And then do a sweeping motion onto your hand and gently squeeze the brush to remove some of the mixture and set aside. REMEMBER not to turn the brush upside down where the brush is pointing to the top. You do not want the water/mixture to go into the ferrule because that can destroy the brush. You will want the handle to be the part pointing to the top while the brush pointing downward.

Repeat with your other brushes...

Look at those dirty and yucky stuff!

After all that is done, rinse your brushes (make sure that the water temperature is just right) and just gently squeeze them to get rid some of the water. Time to air dry them. Get a clean plate and put some paper towels, preferably a plate with slanted sides so that the brushes will be in an angle and the remaining water can just drain into the towel. It may take some time to let them completely dry so you might want to do this at night time or when you know you are not going to use them for a little while.

Now your brushes are clean and ready to do some business afterward. Please share your make up brushes cleaning routine, I would like to know about them! Blog you later cuties!

Pink Valentine Nails

It's been a long time since I had colored nails. It's not that I am against to colored or long nails, but being a nurse, sometimes they just go to waste. But, since Valentines Day is just around the corner, why not give some love to those long-no-attention nails?! I use the Essie Sugar Daddy nail polish which is a baby pink shade. As a pinkaholic, I so love the color that I would like to eat it! (hahahaha) I have "old lady hands" lately because of frequent hand washing at the hospital and it gets very dry despite the numerous times of lotion application! Anyway, have fun on your Valentines Day. If you have some Valentine nails, please share them down below. I would love to see them!

Night Out Glam Tutorial

Hey guys! It's been a while since my last update. It has just been one hella crazy of a week at work. Very high census yet so under staffed! There was one night we each have 9 patients to handle! ughhh. *safe harbor* but anyways, I'm glad we were able to handle them. Enough about work, today I want to show you a night out glam tutorial. [sorry for the low quality pics, I don't have a decent camera and lighting yet :( ]

First, gather your tools...

Start with a clean and moisturized face.

Then a face primer to make sure all those foundation/bb cream/powder will last long all night. This time I use the Smashbox Photofinish Color Correcting Foundation Primer to minimize any redness. I use the Sigma Foundation F60 Synthetic Brush to apply it. And then the Skin 79 VIP Gold Super Plus Beblesh Balm or you can use foundation too. Still I apply it using the F60 brush from Sigma.

And then apply concealer to pimples or any hyperpigmentation. I use the Benefit Boi-ing Concealer and apply it using a pointed sturdy synthetic brush from BH Cosmetics. And to set them all in, I then apply my Tarte Smooth Operator Powder.

Apply concealer to the eyelids so that your eyeshadow will last long...

For my eyeshadows, I use the BH cosmetics 88 matte color palette. I got this as one of the steal deals during their sale.  For the inner third I use Urban Decay 24/7 Glide On Eye Pencil in Yeyo. It is a metallic white color. For the outer eyelid, I use a black matte eyeshadow. To blend both of them, I use the silver eyeshadow. The tip here is to blend blend blend! For the upper eyelid part, I blend it with the brown eyeshadow that matches my skin tone closely. Then I use the white eyeshadow to highlight my eyebrows. You may want to dab just a little bit because you don't want to compete it with your glittery eyes.

Apply your eyeliner. I use the Eyeko Skinny Liquid Eyeliner. Put some mascara, I use the Urban Decay Cannonball Ultra Waterproof Mascara and false lashes.

Then put some eyebrows on. I use the Lioele Auto Eyebrow in Gray Black.

For the lips, I chose a nude pink shade because as I said before, I don't want the lips to compete with the eyes, you will want the attention more to your eyes. I use the Too Faced La Creme Lipstick in Spice Spice Baby which is a pinky brown shade. And don't forget your bronzer and blush.

So here is the final look...

I hope you will like this tutorial. I admit I am not yet that good in applying make up but I just want to share this fun tutorial for people to see or love. Blog you later loves!

My Pretty and Cute Mini-Haul

So I have been longing to buy from this site for a while now. As Asian, I know that most of the products would fit me because of my skin tone. I have heard that they sell good brands and in a much affordable price. These are all what I bought in my mini-haul/retail therapy (being tired from work).

I bought the VIP gold collection Super + Beblesh Balm. I heard so much good reviews about it. Compared to the American brands I have tried before, this one matches well with my skin tone. And I believe even if someone who is not Asian uses this, it will blend with her skin after it has oxidized.

Swatch:

My face without and with the BB cream:

I can say that I like it because it gives light to medium coverage and it doesn't cake. But the only concern I have with this is after hours later, it leaves me oily but mainly on the forehead area only. But I do have an oily type of skin, so that maybe a contributing factor. But other than that, I have no problems with it.

I bought the Lioele Auto Eyebrow pencil. It is an angled creamy pencil and comes with a brow brush at the other end. I bought the black shade since I am one for the "natural looking" brows. I like the shape of the pencil because it is angled. But I lightly apply them because I am afraid to break it since it is not a pencil where you can sharpen it and I don't know how to fix it if ever that may happen.

I bought the Lioele Carry Me Blusher. It comes in a cute package. BUT the main downside for this is it is so difficult to apply! You really have to dab it hard on your face to get that pigmented powder to resurface.

I also bought false lashes. It is in the "normal" type of lashes.

I also bought these cute brow hair holder (I am really obsessed with bow shaped things and pink-of course!). It doesn't hold my hair that much but they are just so cute.

These are the samples that I got. A Pig Nose Clear Blackhead Perfect Sticker from Holika Holika. Imagine if you wear them! Lol. And a sample for the pink Super+ BB Cream (which I will definitely buy someday).

Those are all the products that I bought for my mini-haul. Check their website http://prettyandcute.com/ if you like this blog. Thanks for reading! Blog you later loves!
